About Us

Yorktown Memorial Hospital after dark, taken for Texas Monthly.

About Yorktown Memorial Hospital

Hidden in the shadows of small-town Texas, Yorktown Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1951 under the watchful eye of the Felician Sisters of the Roman Catholic Church. But what was once meant to be a place of healing slowly became a house of sorrow. After 35 troubled years, the hospital shut down in 1986—only to briefly reopen as a drug rehabilitation center before closing for good in 1992. Since then, it has stood in silence, abandoned and decaying… but not empty.

Within its crumbling walls, over 2,000 souls are said to have taken their final breath—even though the hospital never reached full capacity. Whispers of malpractice, unspeakable suffering, and hidden violence have clung to the halls like the peeling paint on its walls.

For over 30 years, the building has sat untouched by time… but not untouched by the dead. Paranormal investigators and brave visitors alike report chilling encounters: dolls that speak on their own, towering shadow figures, glowing red eyes lurking in the dark, phantom footsteps pacing the halls, and voices echoing through the void when no one else is near.

Yorktown Memorial has become a mecca for the paranormal—a place where the veil feels thin and the air carries the weight of something unseen. It has been featured on chilling TV series like Ghost Adventures, Destination Fear, and It Feels Evil, as well as on major YouTube channels including Amy’s Crypt, Sam and Colby, Twin Paranormal, The Boys, and The Paranormal Files.

Step inside, if you dare. Just know… some who enter, don’t always leave alone.

About the Owners - Curious Twins Tours & Events

We are Curious Twins Tours & Events (Fred & Stephen). Started in 2017, we are a local family-owned historic tour company in San Antonio, TX that seeks to create equitable perspectives of history and the paranormal. What differentiates us from other paranormal companies is that we care deeply about history, folklore and authentic paranormal experiences. For example: We don't do jump scares, we don't make up stories, and we don't dress up as characters. In our tours and investigations, we do our best to establish what is fact and what is fiction.

Every year we host two large paranormal conferences: The San Antonio Psychic & Spirit Fest (every May) and The San Antonio Paranormal Fest (every September). In 2025, we were excited to coordinate with the New England Society of Psychic Research (NESPR) to showcase the notorious haunted Annabelle Doll to over 1500 visitors.

Our past community partners include: The San Antonio River Authority, Government Canyon State Natural Area, The Nat Washer Masonic Lodge and The King William Association.

Recently, we  launched a dark tourism podcast called “Curious Travels: A Morbid Travel Guide” and a weekly blog titled, “The Morbid Travel Guide,” accessible at morbidtravelguide.com.

In July 2025, Curious Twins Tours & Events purchased the historic and haunted Yorktown Memorial Hospital in Yorktown, Texas, at its 74th anniversary, with plans for preservation and growth.

Longtime caretakers of Yorktown Memorial Hospital, Eddie and Stephanie.

About the Caretakers - Stephanie & Eddie

Lurking in the shadows of Yorktown Memorial Hospital are its two devoted caretakers—Eddie and Stephanie.

Eddie is the gatekeeper to the haunted halls, guiding guests through the decaying corridors on his chilling daytime caretaker tours. With a voice made for ghost stories and a memory full of unsettling encounters, he weaves the hospital’s grim history and local legends into unforgettable, bone-chilling tales. Many say the spirits stir more when he speaks.

Stephanie works behind the veil, managing bookings and ensuring each guest experience runs smoothly. Quietly watchful, she knows the hospital’s moods better than most... and warns visitors to tread lightly. Not every presence in Yorktown is eager to be disturbed.
